Knotted Malas, with a knot between each bead, have a wonderful, unique drape and soft feel, and a high durability. We hand-knot the malas ourselves.
We have selected several semi-precious stones for their look and appropriateness for a mala, and combined them with wood or stone interval beads, pendants, and color-coordinated tassels.Black Onyx is associated spiritually with constancy, tenacity, (on-going effort in practice) contentment and virtue, and spiritual strength and vigor.
Agate is associated with acceptance, balance and harmony, security and protection, courage, love and generosity.
Amethyst is associated spiritually with meditation, transformation, radiance, inner peace, and joyous spiritual states.
Riverstone is a traditional mala bead and is associated with love, harmony, peace, acceptance, balance, and practice in the world.
Lapis Lazuli has been used in many religious traditions down through the centuries. In the Buddhist tradition, it is associated with the Healing Buddha, Bhaisajyguru. In the West, throughout the middle-ages and renaissance, the ground stone was used in artist's pigment as the color of the robe of the Virgin Mary. It is associated with a sense of reverence and awe, spiritual strength, intuition and love, as well as with spiritual and physical healing.
Smoky quartz, a dark clear crystal, is associated with understanding and releasing ourselves from old values and blockages, as well as overcoming grief, sorrow and depression, and restoring balance and joy for life. It is a balancing, harmonizing stone. In the middle east it is associated with faithfulness and friendship.
