Shakya Design offers two types of crystal malas. The first uses special quartz crystal from Nepal that is carefully removed from the earth without any blasting or dynamite so as not to damage the natural qualities of the crystal. The second uses Austrian Swarovski crystal which is considered the finest full-lead crystal made today.











Swarovski Crystal Malas

Swarovski crystal is made in Austria and is considered by many to be the finest crystal made today. It is full-lead crystal making it optically beautiful. Each bead is a tiny prism reflecting light from all sides.

A.B. (Aurora Borealis) crystal reflects all colors of the rainbow more intensely.

Himalayan Crystal Malas

The crystal in these malas comes from altitudes between 4,000 and 8,000 feet, where it is carefully mined by hand without the use of explosives so as to maintain the healing and spiritual qualities of the crystal. It is then carried down from the mountain by sherpas. Himalayan crystal malas come in three sizes, 6mm and 8mm clear round and a 7mm gently faceted shape. We offer malas in 108 bead and 36 bead styles with selected semi-precious interval beads and color coordinated tassels.
